Abstract

Chromolaena odorata  (Asteraceae), commonly known as Siam weed, is a medicinally important invasive plant widely used in traditional medicine for wound healing, treating infections, and inflammatory conditions. Advances in chromatographic techniques have enabled identification and quantification of its bioactive compounds, such as flavonoids, phenolics, terpenoids, alkaloids, and volatile oils, which underlie its antimicrobial activity. This review synthesizes the current literature on chromatographic analyses (TLC, HPLC, GC, GC-MS, etc.) of  C. odorata  leaf extracts, correlates identified phytochemicals to observed antimicrobial effects (against bacteria, fungi, etc.), discusses modes of action, gaps in current research, and suggests directions for future work.
