Abstract

Melioidosis is caused by the gram-negative organism Burkholderia pseudomallei, and is responsible for significant morbidity and mortality, especially among diabetic patients. Though melioidosis can affect multiple systems, its occurrence in head and neck regions are relatively uncommon. The patient being reported is an elderly diabetic lady who presented with tender neck swelling and was found to have melioidosis neck abscess.
